Breast Disease in Women and Men
Causes of breast enlargement:
1. Men during adolescence develop small lumps in the nipple or nipple, it should only be temporary due to the hormone estrogen.
2. Sometimes in menopause or age 70's men can also have breast enlargement due to low testosterone.
3. Women with Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) or Oral Contraceptive Pills can have enlarged breasts.
4. When a woman or man is overweight or fat the breasts grow.
Symptoms seen in the breast:
1. Breastfeeding mothers develop a nipple that can be applied with oil or lotion to prevent injury.
2. Nipple itching is caused by irritation from clothing or fabric, or fungal infection.
3. There is also a discharge from the newborn baby's nipple within a few days. This is called witch milk.
4. For breastfeeding, it is important that the first milk or colostrum be given to the baby. The mother should eat nutritious food and drink enough water. Anyone with an inverted nipple can breastfeed, tell your OB Gyn because there is a way.
5. If you have a nipple discharge but are not pregnant or breastfeeding, see a doctor because there are thyroid diseases that can be seen like this.
6. If brown or blood comes out of the breast, check it because it may be cancerous.
7. Breast aches when you have a miscarriage, menstruation, pregnancy, menopause, when you have mastitis or infection, or cancer.
8. Take a self-breast examination because usually the husband still notices. Breast tests are mammogram and breast ultrasound. It doesn't hurt to take a test.
9. All breast tumors should be checked by a surgeon because they need to know if there is cancer or infection such as mastitis.
