Food for Asthma
1. Onion - Eating onion regularly can help with asthma attacks. Because onion contains the anti-oxidant quercetin, which fights inflammation.
2. Coffee - 1 or 2 cups of strong coffee, helps slightly because it is like theophylline, a drug that relaxes the airways.
3. Green Tea - Like apples and onions, green tea contains quercetin and other flavonoids. Try to drink 1 or 2 cups per day.
4. Fatty fish such as herring, tuna, sardines, anchovies, salmon and mackerel contain omega-3 fatty acids to fight inflammation in your body, including the airways.
5. Apples and strawberries - Eating enough apples can help prevent asthma attacks. Like onions, apples are rich in quercetin, but be sure to eat the skin, as this is where quercetin comes from. Strawberries are also rich in flavonoids.
6. Foods rich in antioxidants such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Selenium. Red bell pepper, orange or calamansi juice, cabbage and tomatoes are good all day long.
