Child and Baby Diarrhea
Diarrhea in baby and baby is dangerous. Many die of dehydration due to diarrhea.
Follow these tips:
1. If your child has an intestinal infection, the most important thing to do is replace the lost fluids and salts in the body.
2. Help your child take Oral Rehydrating Solution or ORS. Let your child's stomach rest for 15 to 20 minutes after vomiting or diarrhea and give a small amount of fluid. It is best to use an oral rehydration solution such as Pedialyte or Hydrite. In children with gastroenteritis, water is not well absorbed. If bottled, give oral rehydration solution or its regular formula.
3. Restore normal eating slowly. Gradually give easily digestible foods such as rice, crackers, gelatin and bananas.
4. Avoid greasy foods, sweets such as candy and soda, as it can aggravate diarrhea.
5. Make sure the child has adequate rest.
6. Avoid giving over-the-counter anti-diarrhea medications such as Imodium unless prescribed by a doctor. Sometimes, the virus lasts longer in the body.
Consult a doctor immediately if:
1. Has a high fever.
2. If seen dull or irritable.
3. If seen too hurt.
4. If the stool contains blood.
5. Looks dehydrated and does not want to drink.
