For Muscle Strain and Pain

For Muscle Strain and Pain

To treat lame:

1. Apply a cold compress to the painful part after the workout, even if it is not damaged, to prevent pain and swelling.

2. After 48 hours, if the swelling does not go away, apply a hot compress to the affected area. The heat improves blood flow and speeds up recovery.

3. Slowly check the damaged joint, and if possible try using the joint after 2 days.

4. Mild sprain usually improves over 1 week, although recovery lasts up to 6 weeks.

5. Avoid activities that continue to cause stress to the injured joint. If minor sprains recur, it can weaken the joint.

The severity of a strain may be:

1. Mild or Light - The tendon is stretched too much or torn slightly. The affected part is soft and somewhat painful, especially if moved. It is not too swollen. You can put pressure on the joints.

2. Severe - One or more tendons are torn. The affected part is very painful, very swollen and discolored. There is no ability to move your joint normally or put weight on it. Symptoms may be similar to those that are broken or dislocated, and need to be treated. Sometimes surgery is needed if there is a torn tendon or flesh.
