Numb Hand: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (Part 1)
Is the palm of your hand numb? Does your whole palm, from the thumb to the fourth finger, feel numb? Do you ever lose your hand and let go of what you are carrying? If so, you may have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a disease of overuse, such as computer workers, office workers, typewriters, waiters, carpenters, laundresses and seamstresses. Women are more likely to get this disease than men.
The cause of numbness is the pinching of a vein, the Median Nerve, in the area of our wrist. Our fingers have tendons or tendons that harden when we use our hand. When you use your hand too much, these tendons become swollen, and the Median Nerve can become constricted. As a result, the palm is numb.
If your hand is numb, consult a doctor (surgeon) to find out if your disease is carpal tunnel syndrome. The cause of numbness in the hand, such as arthritis or diabetes, can also be as different.
Apart from the tips I will give, surgeons also have ways to treat carpal tunnel syndrome. There is an injection of steroids in the wrist. And if it is severe there is also an operation to loosen the passage in the wrist tendon.
The good news is that most people with carpal tunnel syndrome can be cured by the advice we give.
1. Rest your hand. Reduce computer work and sewing. Break and rest your hand every hour. Also use the unaffected hand. I know you have to make money, but your Carpal Tunnel may get worse.
2. Reduce hand strength and force. Take things in stride and try not focus too much on the problem at home. If you are moving or lifting, do not put all the weight on the wrist. Use full shoulder and arm lifting.
3. Do not bend the hand. If the posture of your hand is wrong, the median nerve can be pinched. The wrist should always be straight when typing.
Next, there are many more tips to prevent this disease.
