Remedy for Menopausal Symptoms in Women
Most signs and symptoms of menopause are temporary only. Here are our tips:
1. Eat enough. It is necessary to eat a complete diet including fruits, vegetables, and whole grains and limit the intake of fats, oils and sweets. This includes taking calcium and vitamin D from food or tablets every day.
2. Get a good night's sleep. Avoid drinking coffee at night.
3. Exercise daily. Take 30 minutes of moderate-intensity activities especially in the morning to help fight aging. It can also help with weight loss and stress.
4. If you have vaginal dryness or feel pain during intercourse, use over-the-counter water-based lubricants (such as KY Jelly). It also helps if you are still sexually active.
5. Hot flashes or hot feeling. Try to exercise. Find out what triggers hot flashes, which can include hot drinks, spicy food, alcohol, hot weather and places.
6. Eat soy like soy milk and tofu. Soy is a common source of isoflavones, a compound that can help with hot flashes. If you have breast cancer, talk to your doctor before eating it.
7. Practice relaxing. Techniques such as deep breathing, guided imagery, yoga, and meditation can help you cope with changing moods, stress and sleep.
Stages of menopause:
1. Peri-menopause. You will begin to experience the symptoms of menopause even if you are still menstruating. Your hormone levels rise and fall unevenly, and you may experience hot flashes and other symptoms. It lasts 4 to 5 years or more. During this time, you can still get pregnant.
2. Post-menopause. When it is 12 months since your last menstrual period, it means menopause. During the post-menopausal period and in later periods, your ovary is less likely to produce sex hormones and will no longer produce eggs. So you will not get pregnant.
When to Go to OB-Gyne Doctor:
Bleeding after menopause is not normal and should be checked immediately by your doctor. The cause of the bleeding may not be serious, but post-menopausal bleeding may be a sign of cancer.
