Menopause In Men: What Is It?
If women have menopause, men have andropause. The symptoms of menopause are different in women than in men.
Menopause in women suddenly comes between the ages of 45 and 55, at which point a woman will stop menstruating. The woman's egg cell production stops and her body's estrogen levels suddenly drop. As a result, the woman feels hot flushes, irregular menstruation, anxiety, insomnia and headaches.
Consult your OB-gynecologist for treatment.
Andropause In Men:
Andropause is more likely to occur in men. This is called "male menopause."
From the age of 30 the male testosterone level gradually decreases by 1% per year. By age 70 it is possible that testosterone levels will drop by almost 50%. Because testosterone is slowly lowering and men are not paying much attention to it.
Symptoms of andropause include (1) decreased sexual desire, (2) shrinking muscles, (3) weakness, and (4) low self-confidence. Others are sad and have difficulty sleeping.
To find out if your testosterone is low, it can be tested in the laboratory by a blood test.
What is the solution to andropause? First, eat nutritious food and continue regular exercise. Second, check with the doctor to find out if you are feeling for any other reason. Andropause may not be the cause of your symptoms.
Last advice: Also be careful when taking supplements for testosterone. Its benefits and risks are uncertain. Consult your doctor. Good luck.
