How to Protect your eyes

 How to Protect your eyes

As we age, our eyesight also weakens. The lens of the eye hardens and our vision becomes blurred. What are the things that hurt our eyes?

Here is the Doctor's advice:

1. Avoid dazzling objects. Do not stare at the sun and bright light. According to the Doctor, this is the most important advice so as not to damage our eyes. Also try to darken our computer screen and television so that we are not dazzled.

2. Do not read in the dark. It will be difficult for our eyes to read in the dark. Use moderate white light (and not yellow). Do not direct light to the eyes.

3. Do not work long hours in front of a computer or TV. Try the “20-20-20” umbrella. What is this? Every 20 minutes in front of the computer or TV, look into the distance (about 20 feet away) for 20 seconds. It will reduce the fatigue of our eyes.

4. A tip: Frequent blinking also has the benefit of tearing our eyes with tears. It is as bad as drying the cornea (the front of the eye). Sometimes, with too much hard work, we forget to blink and rest our eyes.

5. Quit smoking. Also avoid the smoke of other smokers. Smoking in the eyes is very bad because it can cause cataracts and blindness. Cataract is the fading of the lens that still needs surgery.

6. Avoid dusty and dirty places. Do you notice that when you are in a smoky or dusty place your eyes turn red? When you ride a jeep or have a drink at the bar, do not your eyes turn red? This is because the smoke and dust are irritating to our eyes. It hurts in the long run.

To take care of the eyes, have an eye check up every 1-2 years. Many eye diseases (such as glaucoma) are asymptomatic. You think your eyes are good but you have depression. Especially if you have diabetes, you need to have your eyes checked early. Diabetes is blind. Let's take care of our eyes!
