How to care our Kidney
Our kidneys are very important.
The kidneys help remove body waste through urination. When our kidneys are damaged, it can cause kidney failure and dialysis. Kidney treatment is expensive and difficult.
Here are some unique ways to take care of your kidneys:
1. Reduce salt in food - We must learn to limit the intake of salty foods such as salt, fish sauce, soy sauce, anchovies and salted fish. Instant noodles, gossip and canned foods are also high in salt. Read the "Nutritional Label" for salt / salt content. If the broth or sauce is salty, do not consume it. When cooking noodles, only half the seasoning is added. It is not forbidden to eat salty foods, but just reduce it. Excess salt or salt in the body will increase our pressure. And high blood pressure will destroy our kidneys.
2. Limit protein to diet - Did you know that eating too much protein, such as beef, pork, especially large steaks, makes your kidneys suffer? Yes, that is true. That is why people with kidney disease limit their protein intake. According to Doctor, when you eat a lot of protein, your kidneys need to work twice as much. In comparison, instead of the kidneys working, the kidneys run when we eat a lot of protein. The kidneys can get tired and damaged in the long run. Because of this, doctors do not recommend the Atkin’s diet or South Beach Diet which is high in protein in the diet. A balanced diet is the healthiest: with rice, vegetables, fish and fruits.
3. Treat High Blood Pressure - When your blood pressure is high over 140 over 90, this is where kidney damage begins. The kidneys want only normal blood pressure. Reduce salt intake and take medication for high blood pressure.
4. Treat diabetes - Diabetes is very bad for the kidneys. It destroys diabetes and kidneys and can lead to kidney failure and dialysis. Even a slight increase in your blood sugar (mild diabetes) can still damage your kidneys. It does not have a high blood sugar level, if not during your diabetes. When diabetes is 5-10 years old, the kidneys begin to break down. Therefore, consult a doctor immediately and treat diabetes and high blood pressure.
5. Limit the use of pain relievers (pain medication) - Common pain relievers such as mefenamic acid, ibuprofen, and expensive pain relievers such as celecoxib, can damage the kidneys. It should be limited to one week. The kidneys are then rested, before the pain medication is given again. So if you have arthritis, just apply hot water to the knee and use paracetamol tablets.
6. Drink enough water every day - The doctor's usual advice is to drink 8 glasses of water a day. This will help prevent kidney stones.
7. For people who have a CT Scan or MRI with contrast dye (those who use a dye that is applied to the vein), we need to take care of your kidneys. Drink 1 or 2 glasses of water first before a CT scan or MRI to help the kidneys release this dye.
8. There is no basis for the use of supplements for the kidneys yet no supplement has been invented that has been proven to help the kidneys. Just follow the advice we have given and our kidneys will be taken care of.
9. Do not overdose on Vitamin C - only up to 500 mg of Vitamin C is recommended. Excess vitamin C can cause kidney stones. And kidney stones can lead to kidney failure if left untreated.
10. Ask your doctor first before taking any medicine. Check urine (urinalysis) and blood (CBC, BUN and creatinine) and consult your kidney specialists or doctor. Our kidneys are very important. Let's take care of it.
